JUAN LACAMBRA

Founder GRUPO LAERA

Business Administrator with emphasis in finance.  Certified by the University of Oxford in Climate Change Adaptation, by La Javeriana University in Social Responsibility and the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá in Consulting Companies Management.

With 15 years of expertise working with financial institutions in SMEs credit risk, Juan provides financial consulting to small and medium enterprises focusing on their management and financial capacity. Juan has also led diagnosis and action plans for credit assessment processes for financial entities in Mexico, Colombia and Vietnam.

Juan is part of the working group that analyzes and diagnoses how climate change has affected MSMEs, designing sector strategies to cope and adapt to CC.

CARMEN LACAMBRA

Biologist with a master in Coastal Zone Management and received her PhD in geography from the University of Cambridge, which consisted on the inclusion of the natural environment on coastal disasters vulnerability assessments and was funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Trust.  Carmen’s career has developed in the field of conservation and integrated coastal zone management emphasizing and promoting the inclusion and integration of the sustainable development, risk management, climate change, biodiversity and ecosystems and the private sector in research and development projects at global, regional, national and local scales.  Carmen has been an independent consultant for UNEP-WCMC in UK, the Permanent Commission of the South Pacific (CPPPS), the Colombian Oceanographic Commission and INVEMAR and has worked with partners as UNDP, WWF, IUCN, TRAFFIC, TNC and Birdlife International.

Since 2011, Carmen is partner and funding member of Grupo Laera. Partners in current projects include USAID Washington, USAID Guatemala, Wilson Woodrow Centre for Scholars, World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank and the Mangroves Initiative in Thailand. Carmen has been an independent adviser for the European Union on environmental matters, and since 2012 a reviewer of the 5th IPCC assessment report that was recently published.

A contributing author of the IPCC reports with more than 20 scientific articles published.
